About

The University of Western Sydney (UWS) licenses UWSCollege as its agent, to manage and teach its Academic programs. Students undertaking the Diploma in Health Science (Health Promotion, Health Services Management and Therapeutic Recreation) are also students of UWS.

The Diploma provides students with the first year units included in the Bachelor of Health Science, covering introductory Science, Communication and Health aspects of the Bachelor course.

The course content of both the Three Semester (Standard) and Two Semester (Fast track) program is equivalent to one year of study in the Bachelor of Health Science.

You will need to satisfy both requirements below.

1. Academic Entry Requirements

Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent or UWSCollege University Foundation Studies or equivalent, with a Grade Point Average of 6.0 or higher to enter the 2 semester course, (GPA of 5.5 or higher to enter the 3 semester course). Students are also assumed to have completed study in Mathematics at Senior High School Level or to have gained a ‘C’ grade at Foundation Level Mathematics at UWSCollege.

2. English Entry Requirements

International students must satisfy one of the following language requirements:

  • IELTS(Academic) 6.0 with a minimum of 5.0 in each sub band.
  • Pass EAP III 50% and pass in the overall test component.
  • 'C' result in the University Foundation Studies Academic English course 
  • UWSCollege English Placement Test at IELTS 6.0 equivalent.
The Diploma can be completed in one year full-time study over 12 months (three semesters) or eight months full-time study (two semesters).
Each subject is assessed through a combination of continual assessment, mid semester and final examinations. In general, for subjects studied over two semesters, the weighting of the assessment is greater in second semester and on the final examinations. Details for each subject are contained in the individual subject outlines. 
Successful completion of the Diploma in Health Science (Health Promotion, Health Services Management and Therapeutic Recreation) provides advanced standing of 80 credit points (one year study) in the Bachelor of Health Science (Health Promotion, Health Services Management and Therapeutic Recreation) at UWS. To successfully complete your Diploma you will need at least a 50% pass in all required subjects.
