Standard Program

The University of Western Sydney (UWS) licenses UWSCollege as its agent to manage and teach its Academic programs. Students undertaking Academic Pathway Programs are UWS students.

Foundation Studies prepares students for study in a university environment. On successful completion of Foundation Studies, students gain direct entry into the first year of the equivalent Bachelor Degree program at UWS.

When students apply for Foundation Studies they must select a stream of study that is linked to their preferred university undergraduate degree.

The Foundation Studies Standard Program is designed to be completed in eight months, or 36 weeks. This program includes orientation, teaching, study and examination weeks. Each semester is 18 weeks, with approximately 24 hours face-to-face classes each week.

Your choice of study specialisation is your link to your preferred university undergraduate program. For more information on subject lists and descriptions click on the links below.

Each subject is assessed through a combination of continual assessment, mid semester and final examinations. In general, for subjects studied over two semesters, the weighting of the assessment is greater in second semester and on the final examinations. Details for each subject are contained in the individual subject outlines.
The intake for the two semester program is is March, June and October. Entry in October for Arts and Science is possible, though not advised due to the lack of mid-year entry for many, but not all, Science, Arts and Nursing courses at UWS. For more information refer our Enrolment Information page.

Completion of year 11 (with superior grades) or Year 12 equivalent.

Your application will be based on your UAI/ATAR.

Each application is given individual consideration. If additional criteria are to be assessed, this will need to be provided to UWSCollege Admissions.
